MY HONDA+ APP

Which smartphone operating systems is MyHonda+ compatible with?

The My Honda+ app has been designed to be compatible with the latest versions of Android and iOS smartphone operating systems (OS). These are two of the most popular OS platforms in the UK. Android is a Google based OS and is available on numerous smart phone models. Whereas iOS is developed exclusively for Apple products.

Installing the My Honda+ App

Installing My Honda+ on your smartphone is just like installing any other app on your device. You go to the relevant app site – the Google Play Store for Android devices or App Store for iOS devices – select the app and agree for it to be downloaded to your phone.

Once it’s installed and your phone is paired to your car, you’ll be taken through the straightforward process of creating an account and can quickly start browsing features. Those that aren’t in the habit of adding apps to the phone can ask their nearest Honda retailer to help guide them through the process.

Pairing your Honda with the app

Just 24 hours after taking delivery of your new Honda e or Jazz, you will be able to pair the car to the dedicated My Honda+ app. The app takes you through this process, including details such as the terms and conditions, enrolment and adding the vehicle’s identification number, known as a VIN, as well as important security measures that help establish and confirm your identity as the car owner.

The five subscription packages you can enjoy

There will be five packages offering differing features within the My Honda+ app that are included either free of charge or available through subscription.

1. Core Connectivity

Free throughout the first owner’s time with their Honda e or Jazz, the Core Connectivity subscription package provides a virtual dashboard of your Honda on your smartphone, so you can check details such as the mileage or see how much fuel, charge and driving range you have.

It also lets you operate the car’s door locks, see security alerts for your car or watch back a Honda retailer's vehicle health check video. For the Honda e, it’s also possible to operate the climate control and manage the charging process all using your phone – and from anywhere with a data connection.

2. Safety & Journey

For the first year of ownership, the Safety and Journey pack is available as complimentary with the new Honda e or Jazz. After then, the cost becomes an annual subscription of £29 per year for the second and third year.

It’s packed with useful features, such as a map and journey planner, meaning you can add a destination to your car’s sat nav using your phone. Once you reach your destination, the location of the vehicle is stored in your app so that you can easily find your way back to your car. And while you’re out and about, a geo-fence function will alert you if your car leaves a defined area of your choosing.

Also, should you encounter a problem during your drive, such as a tyre damaged by a pothole, the system works with Honda’s Roadside Assistant to pinpoint your location and summon assistance.

3. Digital Key

Owners of a Honda e can soon benefit from Digital Key, which effectively turns your smartphone into the car’s key. Launching in 2021, you can use this subscription to unlock or lock the doors, open the cover for the car’s charging port or start the vehicle. It is included for the first year of ownership, after which it costs £49 a year. Another neat trick is that it allows the owner to share a ‘Digital Key’ with a trusted third party, so a family member or friend could be provided with the means to open and drive your car.

4. Honda Personal Assistant

Available on both the Honda e and Jazz, the Honda Personal Assistant brings intelligent voice control to drivers – working seamlessly with your new Honda and the MyHonda+ app. It lends a hand virtually by using Artificial Intelligence to carry out helpful tasks at your command, such as checking on the weather forecast for the weekend.

Engaged using the command “Okay Honda”, it uses patented Speech-to-Meaning and Deep Meaning Understanding technologies to deliver speed and accuracy in voice recognition and responses. It also has an ability to understand context, such as the user's location or previous queries. This subscription costs £49 a year.

5. In-Car Wi-Fi Hotspot

In partnership with Vodafone, Honda offers a Wi-Fi Hotspot service with the Jazz and Honda e. It’s accessed through the car’s touchscreen unit, and this will open the connection with Vodafone and present a range of data packages available to choose from, which costs from £5 to £20 a month. For those that travel with families or passengers aboard and value having 4G connectivity, it could be useful for Netflix streaming, catching up with news or working.
