Celebrating 30 Years of the Honda CR-V

A legacy of innovation and adventure

A car that elevates your everyday — from school runs to scenic getaways

When it launched in 1995, the Honda CR-V redefined the family car by blending the comfort and efficiency of a saloon with the confidence of a 4x4. It became the blueprint for the modern SUV — practical, refined, and adventurous — selling over a million units in Europe and inspiring generations of competitors. Thirty years later, that same spirit of innovation and exploration continues to drive the CR-V forward.

30 years of adventures

Each new generation of CR-V has pushed boundaries through advanced technology, engineering excellence and comfort. From introducing diesel power in 2002 and variable VTEC performance in 2006, to hybrid technology in 2018 and today’s advanced safety systems, the CR-V has remained at the forefront of SUV development.

1995

MK1: The original “Compact Recreational Vehicle” combined saloon-like comfort with 4WD confidence, introducing clever innovations such as the removable picnic-table boot floor and a versatile, adventure-ready design that set new standards across the class.

2002

MK2: Enhanced practicality arrived with sliding, reclining rear seats, the first diesel engine option, and a more refined cabin layout that appealed to growing families seeking everyday versatility and long-distance comfort on every journey.

2006

MK3: With a lower centre of gravity and bolder exterior styling, the MK3 model delivered a more dynamic, car-like drive. Inside, the redesigned cabin offered greater comfort, modern materials, and an overall sense of polish and confidence.

2012

MK4: Introduced advanced electronic Real Time 4WD, improved fuel efficiency, and the refined 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine, offering smoother performance, reduced emissions, and a quieter, more composed driving experience across every terrain.

2018

MK5: The first Honda SUV in Europe to feature the innovative e:HEV hybrid system and an optional seven-seat layout, combining intelligent efficiency with family-friendly practicality, responsive handling, and a sleek, modern design.

2023

MK6: Debuted plug-in hybrid technology (e:PHEV), cutting-edge Honda SENSING 360 safety, and a more spacious, premium interior, redefining comfort, performance, and innovation while continuing the CR-V’s legacy of intelligent evolution.
