Having been left in the lurch with the failure of an old power unit, Wiltshire Search and Rescue (WILSAR) is back up and running with a new Honda EU20i Generator.
The donation ensures WILSAR’s on-going partnership with Wiltshire Police in the search for vulnerable missing people can continue, as the generator acts as the sole mobile power supply for the charity’s control van. The EU20i met all the criteria required by WILSAR, as a suitcase-sized portable piece of equipment capable of running the host of vital electrical equipment housed in the organisation’s mobile control-centre. The EU series’ quiet operation also ensures WILSAR can continue to operate in residential areas at night without causing disturbance.
The WILSAR team are a non-profit organisation of 50-60 volunteers relying entirely on fundraising, donations and sponsorship from the public and businesses for all equipment, professional training, fuel and vehicles. As well as working alongside Wiltshire Police, the organisation regularly collaborates with neighbouring teams in Hampshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire and has pledged to assist any search organisation that requests help where possible.
The professionally-trained team has been operating since 2000 and is on-call 24 hours a day helping the search for missing, vulnerable people that often include those with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, mental illness and children with disabilities or learning difficulties. With no government assistance forthcoming, volunteer support and donations are essential for the continuation of the organisation’s vital good work.
We were delighted to confirm the donation of an EU20i generator on behalf of Honda (UK) to Wiltshire Search and Rescue (WILSAR).
Colin Jacobs, Operations Support Executive at Honda (UK) Power Products
“With Honda UK Manufacturing’s £500 donation to the organisation, it didn’t feel right asking for money back in payment for the generator. We hope the generator gives WILSAR many years of use and support."
“We took delivery of the generator in time for the Amesbury Show on 6 June and all went well with lovely weather and lots of interest in WILSAR.
Sly Jenkins, PR Officer at WILSAR
“More importantly, our new generator performed admirably powering the inverter in our control van as well as keeping our urn hot for brews throughout the day!
“Thank you ever so much again on behalf of Wiltshire Search and Rescue. This is an essential piece of equipment that will be used on virtually every call out, training session and community event.”
