Introducing a very special diesel particulate filter

It works best when it’s hot. 600°C hot. At this temperature the nasty bits are actually burnt off rather than trapped. So we put the filter right next to the engine, so it starts creating cleaner exhaust emissions almost as soon as the car has been started. That’s one more step towards even lower emissions.

And we had a bit of a think about the engine too. In fact, we re-engineered the whole thing to make it work even better. And it was worth it. Why? Because now the entire range is fully Euro 5 emissions compliant. And the new generation i-DTEC - that’s ‘i’ for intelligent - gives you quieter, smoother, more powerful and more efficient performance than ever before.
