HONDA MOTORSPORTS PRIVACY NOTICE (UK)
Honda is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This Privacy Notice tells you how Honda Motor Europe Limited (“Honda”, “we”, “us”) processes your personal data when you provide motorsports services to Honda and participate in motorsports activities for Honda (“Motorsports Activity”) . This Privacy Notice also describes your personal data protection rights, including a right to object to some of the processing that Honda carries out. More information about your rights, and how to exercise them, is set out in the “Your Choices and Rights” section.
We may also provide you with additional information when we collect personal data, where we feel it would be helpful to provide relevant and timely information.
What Personal Data We Collect
We process the following types of personal data:
Contact information: such as your name, address, phone number, email, and other similar contact information.
Bank information: such as bank account number and sort code.
Information relating to your fitness to participate in the Motorsport Activity: such as medical examination results.
Information relating to your eligibility to participate in the Motorsport Activity: such as your date of birth, your driver/rider licence, your insurance details, and where applicable, your clothing size.
Any other information pertaining to a Motorsports Activity in which you participate: such as your next of kin name, contact details and relationship to you, your dietary requirements, your signature, photographs, videos, films, recordings, sound clips of your voice, your opinions, your location, your trips, biographical details, interviews and any other information you provide, when attending any Motorsport Activity.
Why We Collect, Use and Store this Personal Data
We collect, use and store your personal data for the reasons set out below.
Where you have given consent.
- To enable us to request confirmation from a Doctor that you are “fit to participate in the Motorsport Activity”.
- To enable us to request medical records in order to support the above.
You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. This may have an impact to your ability to provide motorsport services to us in accordance with the terms of our contract with you
Where necessary to perform any contract Honda has with you
- To pay you as part of the contract in place with you.
- To provide you with clothing and equipment to enable you to participate in the Motorsport Activity.
- To book your attendance and necessary travel and food arrangements for the Motorsport Activity.
- To enable us to monitor and check that you hold the necessary insurance cover for the Motorsport Activity as required in your contract with Honda.
- To use your name, image, signature, recordings, photographs, videos, films, sound clips of your voice, your biographical details, interviews and your opinions for publicity and for the purposes of promoting Honda motorsports, Honda products or products of Honda’s third party sponsors in accordance with the terms of your contract with Honda.
Where necessary to comply with legal obligations.
Where necessary to protect Honda’s legitimate interests and legal rights, and where our interests are not overridden by your data protection rights.
Protecting our legitimate business interests and legal rights. This includes, but is not limited to, use in connection with compliance, regulatory, auditing, legal claims (including disclosure of such information in connection with legal process or litigation) and other ethics and compliance reporting requirements
On occasions Honda will also convert personal data into anonymous data and use it (normally on an aggregated statistical basis) for research and analysis to improve the Honda brand, analyse trends and, tailor products. Aggregated personal information does not personally identify you.
How We Share Your Personal Data Transfers within the Honda group of companies
We may share your personal data with members of the Honda group of companies for the purposes as listed in “why we collect, use and store this data”.
We may share your personal data with Honda Motor Co., Ltd. (HM), our parent company, located in Japan, for the purposes as listed in “why we collect, use and store this data”.
For the purposes mentioned above, your personal data will be processed in, or accessed from, members of the Honda group of companies situated in jurisdictions outside the European Economic Area ("EEA") that do not have equivalent data protection laws to those in the EEA. When we transfer your data within the Honda group of companies, we make use of standard contractual data protection clauses, which have been approved by the European Commission.

We may share your personal data with Honda authorised dealers (image, signature, recordings, photographs, videos, films, sound clips of your voice, your biographical details, interviews and your opinions) for the purposes of promoting Honda products in the EEA.

Transfers outside the EEA

- Medical Practitioners (designated by you).
Your Choices and Rights
Your general Rights and Choices
- You have the right to ask Honda for a copy of your personal data; to correct, delete or restrict processing of your personal data; and to obtain the personal data you provide in a structured, machine readable format.
- You can object to the processing of your personal data in some circumstances (in particular, where we don’t have to process the data to meet a contractual or other legal requirement).
- Where we have asked for your consent, you may withdraw consent at any time. If you ask to withdraw your consent to Honda processing your data, this will not affect any processing which has already taken place at that time.
- These rights may be limited, for example if fulfilling your request would reveal personal data about another person, or if you ask us to delete information which we are required by law or have compelling legitimate interests to keep.
- You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority for data protection. The supervisory authority could be in the place where you live, or where you work, or where a breach of data protection obligations has occurred.
Data Retention
We will retain your personal data only for as long as we need it for Honda's legitimate interest in accordance with applicable law, or perform a service at your request, or to meet a legal requirement. At the end of the retention period, we will take steps to delete your personal data or hold it in a form that no longer identifies you.

This Privacy Notice may be updated periodically. We will update the date at the top of this Privacy Notice. On some occasions, we may also actively advise you of specific data handling activities or significant changes to this Privacy Notice, as required by applicable law.
