Easy on the Eye and the Environment, Honda’s 2025 CUV e:

Raising the Bar

The Clean Urban Vehicle (CUV e:) is Honda’s second foray into the European electric commuter bike market. While the EM1e was intended for short journeys, the CUV e: has twice as much of everything giving it genuine commuter capabilities.

Performance-wise, the CUV e: has acceleration and a top speed similar to a 125cc combustion engine scooter, minus the emissions. As the number of European cities declaring ‘green zones’ increases, the CUV e: is ideally placed for early adopter commuters desiring convenience and eco-friendly credentials.

A desire to protect the environment is important but electric scooters also need to offer real-world performance, style and ease of use. The good news is that the CUV e: ticks all three boxes and more.

Dual Battery Power

The 2025 electric scooter packs two 48v/1.3kWh Honda Mobile Power Packs that live side by side under the seat. Power from the batteries transfers to a side-mounted motor attached to the rear wheel.

This direct power train with its low maintenance gear drive and twin battery pack adds up to brisk acceleration and a top speed of 83kph. Apart from a useful top speed, the CUV e: packs enough of a punch to climb a 13-degree incline, two-up with 30kg of luggage, from a standstill. A kerb weight of 120kg means the scooter is simple to manoeuvre. Plus, the addition of reverse assist means getting in and out of tight parking spaces is no longer a hassle.

Riding Modes as Standard

To get the most riding enjoyment and practicality from the CUV e: there are three riding modes. These include:

Standard, which offers power delivery that any rider can handle with ease. This mode gives the best balance between power output and battery range.

The second mode, Sport, provides full power at the twist of the throttle. Acceleration and throttle response are instantaneous in a way that is unique to EVs.

The final riding mode is Econ.  This selection produces easy-to-handle characteristics that offer maximum battery range. Speaking of battery range, Honda has recorded a fraction over 80km on a full charge.

Honda Mobile Power Pack

In keeping with the whole low-maintenance, ease-of-use ethos of the electric scooter, Honda has developed the Honda Mobile Power Pack. This features compact lithium-ion batteries. These are swappable and easy to remove from the scooter.

The batteries weigh around 10kg each and each is contained in a sturdy plastic casing that fits snugly under the seat compartment. The casing is temperature, humidity, impact and vibration resistant. A T-shaped handle makes the batteries
easy to carry.

The battery charger, which features a built-in cooling fan, plugs directly into a domestic power outlet. A four-segment LED indicator on the front of the charger informs the rider of the battery’s charging status.

Zero to full charge takes around six hours. Meanwhile, a 75% charge is available after 3 hours. Developed in-house, Honda’s legendary durability means batteries can handle over 2,500 charges.

It’s Got the Look

The CUV e:’s EV technology is cutting-edge. Its chassis and bodywork offer the
same practicality and style as the entire Honda premium scooter family.

Beneath the bodywork is a robust but lightweight underbone-style steel frame. Front suspension is 31mm telescopic forks with twin shocks at the rear. The result is a light, sturdy and easily manoeuverable chassis to accommodate a rider
and pillion with ease. You’ll find 210mm of ground clearance and with a turning radius of a mere 1.9m, city centre snarls offer no contest.

Seat height is an extremely manageable 766mm and with a floor height of 270mm the CUV e: is an effortless ride for everyone from newbies and upwards.

Front and rear wheels are both 12” and the front 190mm disc and rear drum feature Combined Brake System (CBS). This safety feature activates on engagement of the rear brake and distributes braking power to the front caliper to ensure balanced stopping.

Even with the twin battery pack beneath the seat, storage can still hold a set of rain gear. There is also a good-sized compartment in the front fairing that is home to a USB-C charging socket. If you enjoy the convenience of leaving your crash helmet with your bike, a 35L or 45L smart top box is available among the list of genuine accessories.

Smart Key and Screen

A 5” TFT display screen designed for the CUV e: provides rider information at a glance. Meanwhile, a higher-grade version of the electric scooter featuring a 7” TFT screen is available.

RoadSync Duo Bonus

The upgraded model delivers turn-by-turn EV-specific route planning, music and calls.  The bonus addition to this model has to be the Honda RoadSync Duo interface.

This ground-breaking app, making its European debut, gives information on nearby charging stations, smart weather forecasting, safety alerts, anti-theft and real-time tracking.

The scooter navigation feature is of particular interest to EV owners. It calculates the remaining battery life. It also tells the rider if they have enough power to reach their destination. This app is updatable after purchase so owners will always benefit from the latest features and information.

Yet another feature championed by Honda’s premium scooter range is the Smart key. Here, you can throw the key in your pocket and operate the ignition, seat and smart top box locks.

The CUV e: benefits from premium high-visibility LED lights and indicators plus a sturdy passenger grab rail whose design follows the seat’s contours.

Along with a range of model-specific Honda genuine accessories, the new CUV e: is available in three colours. These are pearl jubilee white, matte gunpowder black metallic and premium silver metallic.

The stylish and practical Honda CUV e: is the second of Honda’s two-wheel EV roll-out. These machines represent Honda’s commitment to producing 10 electric bikes by 2025.
