INTERNATIONAL DOG DAY - MEET THE HONDA HOUNDS

Honda is wagging its tail in excitement for International Dog Day! The Honda Hounds have come together to explore the CR-V, ZR-V and Jazz. From chasing tennis balls through the Jazz’s Magic Seats, to exploring their surroundings via the CR-V’s sunroof, the pooches have had lots of fun!

Let's meet the Honda Hounds!

Wilson

Meet Wilson, a charming chocolate dachshund with a personality as rich as his coat. Named after the Volleyball in the Tom Hank’s film, Cast Away, as he is his owner’s, Chloe, little companion. Wilson’s favourite pastime is lounging on the sofa, where he curls up in his cozy spot, watching TV (his favourite is The Chase). His love for comfort often means he’s not keen on obeying commands; he prefers to do things at his own pace. Ignoring his owner’s calls is a regular occurrence, especially if it means leaving his beloved couch. Wilson can be a bit grumpy around other dogs, often guarding his territory with a low growl or a stubborn glare. Despite his independent streak, Wilson has a soft side that shines through during cuddle time. He adores being held close, burrowing into warm laps, and soaking up affection. His quirky mix of sass and sweetness makes him a beloved companion, even if he’s a bit of a couch potato.

Molly

Molly, a beautiful black Labrador, is the epitome of a well-behaved dog. With her glossy coat and gentle eyes, she’s the kind of dog everyone admires. Molly is incredibly obedient, always eager to please her owner, Duncan. She sits and stays on command without hesitation, showing off her disciplined nature. Her love for treats is undeniable—Molly will do anything for a delicious snack. Whether it’s fetching a ball, walking calmly on a leash, or lying down quietly, she’s always on her best behavior. Unlike Wilson that might cause mischief or ignore commands, Molly is a model of good manners. Her loyalty and sweet temperament make her a beloved member of the family, always ready to bring joy and companionship to those around her, especially if there’s a treat involved.

Scruffy

Scruffy is a small, mixed-breed with a heart full of love. Her shaggy fur and bright eyes give her an endearing, slightly unkempt appearance that perfectly matches her name. Despite her scruffy look, she’s a gentle and affectionate companion, always eager to be close to her owner, Brad. Scruffy’s sweet nature is evident in the way she greets everyone with a wagging tail and a happy bounce in her step. She loves to snuggle up on laps, often curling into a tiny ball as she nestles into your side. Whether it’s offering a comforting nuzzle or simply being present, Scruffy has an uncanny ability to make those around her feel loved. She’s equally playful, enjoying games of fetch with her brother Jack Jack. Scruffy’s warm, affectionate personality makes her a cherished member of the household.

Jack Jack

Jack Jack is a large, tough-looking mixed-breed dog with a heart full of curiosity. His sturdy frame and confident stance might intimidate some, but beneath that rugged exterior is a friendly and social canine. Jack Jack has a desire to meet every dog he encounters, his tail wagging with enthusiasm as he approaches new friends. Whether at the park, on a walk, or in the neighbourhood, he’s always eager to introduce himself, leading with a sniff and a wag. His love for socialising makes him a popular figure among other dogs, who are often drawn to his playful yet respectful demeanour. Despite his size, Jack Jack is gentle with smaller dogs, carefully sniffing and showing interest without overwhelming them. His outgoing
personality and love for canine companionship makes him the life of any dog gathering. Jack Jack’s friendly nature ensures that he’s always making new friends, one sniff at a time.

Buddy

Buddy, a tiny Jacshund (Jack Russell X Dachshund), is a whirlwind of energy packed into a small frame. With his big and bold ears, eager eyes, Buddy is always ready for action. His greatest passion in life? Tennis balls. The mere sight of one sends him into a frenzy of excitement. Whether it’s chasing after a ball in the park or playing fetch in the backyard, Buddy’s enthusiasm is boundless. He dashes after the ball with lightning speed, his little legs moving faster than you’d think possible. Despite his size, Buddy has the stamina of a much larger dog, never tiring of the game and always begging for "just one more throw". His energetic nature means he’s constantly on the move, exploring his surroundings or engaging in playful antics. But when it’s time to rest, Buddy is content to curl up with his beloved tennis ball, ready to go crazy all over again at the next opportunity

Bailey

Bailey is an adorable Boxer with a heart as big as his playful personality. His expressive face, complete with those classic Boxer wrinkles and soulful eyes, makes it impossible not to fall in love with him at first sight. Bailey is the definition of affection, always eager to shower his owner, Jenny, with love. Whether it’s leaning into you for a head scratch or nudging your hand for some extra pets, Bailey is never shy about showing how much he cares.

Despite his sturdy build, Bailey is incredibly gentle, especially with children, making him a perfect companion for families. He’s full of energy and loves to play, whether it’s a game of fetch, a romp in the yard, or just a silly wrestling match. But when playtime is over, Bailey is quick to settle down, often curling up close to Jenny, content just to be near her.

Pablo

Pablo, a cheeky little Chorkie, is a bundle of personality in a tiny package. With his mix of Chihuahua and Yorkshire Terrier traits, he has an adorable, scruffy look that matches his spunky attitude. Pablo is always up to something, whether it’s sneaking off with a sock or darting around the house in a burst of energy. His mischievous side keeps everyone on their toes, but it’s hard to stay mad at him for long—his big, expressive eyes and charming grin can melt any heart.

Despite his cheekiness, Pablo is incredibly affectionate. He loves to cuddle up on a warm lap after a day of antics, enjoying the comfort of being close to his owner, Kate. His tiny stature doesn’t stop him from having a big presence; Pablo has a bold, fearless attitude, often acting like he’s the biggest dog around. His playful spirit and loving nature make Pablo a delightful and unforgettable companion.

Tips for travelling with a pet in the car

The AA’s Head of Roads Policy, Jack Cousens, shares the importance of keeping pets safe while in the car: “When travelling with pets, it’s important to avoid any dangerous activity that could distract the driver and possible cause an accident.

“Loose or unrestrained pets can easily distract a driver by moving around the vehicle and getting in the way of the steering wheel and pedals. And if you do have an accident, a pet running loose in the car is more likely to be badly injured, as well as being a danger to everyone else in the car.”
