WHEN IS IT TOO WINDY TO RIDE A MOTORCYCLE?

Most bikers will choose not to ride in some windy conditions, but sometimes the wind picks up and you just have to carry on.
If you know it’s going to be windy on the road, then take precautions such as securing loose items like saddlebags and backpacks. Even better, avoid taking them in the first place.
Apart from extreme conditions, deciding on whether it’s too windy to ride depends on various factors such as your experience, how comfortable you are riding in the wind and the weight and size of your bike. As a general rule, you will need to slow down and expect buffeting when passing other vehicles, side roads or if there are gaps in hedges etc.
How do you handle a motorbike in strong winds?
A larger bike will be harder to push around but will provide more surface area for the wind to catch.
A smaller motorcycle won’t catch as much wind but will be easier to push about.
