SIX RIDING MODES
Selection of the riding modes is easy, through the top left of the touch screen. There are four default riding modes – TOUR, URBAN, GRAVEL and OFF-ROAD – that modify engine response and engine braking, DCT G switch and Cornering ABS with each designed to deliver ultimate performance. Two user modes also allow for full customisation, allowing you to find the right set-up to suit your own personal preferences.

SHOWA ELECTRONICALLY EQUIPPED RIDE ADJUSTMENT (SHOWA EERA™)
SHOWA EERA™ is an option from new. It adjusts damping force relative to riding mode selected and input is gathered from stroke sensors plus Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU). There are three road settings – SOFT for smooth reaction, versatile MID and HARD designed for sportier response. There is an OFF-ROAD setting and USER option for fine-tuning. Rear spring preload can also be electronically adjusted while stationary.

DUAL LED HEADLIGHTS WITH DRL AND CORNERING LIGHTS
To see and be seen are always priorities while riding. The new dual LED headlight delivers a penetrating beam and, for additional security features, three-stage right/left Cornering Lights that use speed and lean angle to automatically illuminate blind spots when cornering at night. Daytime Running Lights (DRL) also automatically adjust to ambient light intensity and give a bright, highly visible light improving safety.

HONDA SELECTABLE TORQUE CONTROL (HSTC)
The optimised HSTC works to manage rear wheel traction and is controlled by real-time input to the six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU). It offers seven levels; 1-4 deliver minimum intervention and are spaced closely together, to allow for finer application by more expert riders in off-road riding conditions, while levels 5-6-7 are spread wider with level 7 offering the highest control level. HSTC can also be switched off.

WHEELIE CONTROL & CORNERING ABS
The IMU measures pitch angle and combined with front and rear wheel speed controls wheelie height through levels 1-3. Wheelie Control can also be switched off completely. Cornering ABS manages braking force relative to lean angle and speed of deceleration. The amount of intervention is dependent on the riding mode selected; rear wheel lift is also controlled. There’s an off-road setting and rear brake ABS can also be switched off.

OPTIONAL DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION (DCT)
Available as a (Factory Fitted) option from new DCT features two automatic modes; D mode offers easy cruising and best fuel economy, while S mode gives three sportier shift patterns to choose from. The standard manual mode allows you to operate gearshifts through triggers on the left handlebar. DCT also auto-blips on down changes. For off-road use, the G switch reduces clutch slip while shifting for more direct drive.
IMMERSIVE AND RESPONSIVE MULTI INFORMATION DISPLAY
The full colour Multi Information Display (MID) 6.5-inch touch screen puts you firmly in charge of all of the Africa Twin’s riding mode options.
And have it how you want it – the MID can be customised to show various levels of information relative to the riding mode chosen. Each of the four default riding modes – plus the two customisable user modes – are selected through the top left of the 6.5-inch TFT touch screen, as is SHOWA EERA™ adjustment. It’s also easy to use even when wearing gloves.
Apple CarPlay®
Everybody needs keep in contact, especially on long trips. So the MID features Apple CarPlay®, allowing use of an Apple iPhone® through the TFT touchscreen without major distraction while riding (the iPhone® plugs into a USB charging port sited on the right of the MID). Navigation apps can be accessed and displayed and with a Bluetooth headset fitted to your helmet you can make and receive calls or listen to music.
