Oulton Park

Following the strong showing of Honda Yuasa Racing at Thruxton, the BTCC moves on to Oulton Park on 8/9 June after a break of five weeks. The circuit will provide different challenges for the team, with average speeds around 20mph less than the Hampshire track, and a return to the soft compound tyre.

Honda Civics performed strongly at the circuit in 2012, with the team taking all three wins in a memorable weekend, two for Matt Neal and one for Gordon Shedden. This season, the performance and handling of the Civic before the short break is looking strong, but there is much work to do to consolidate recent results.

Thruxton

The qualifying session for Thruxton saw a tense Honda 1-2-3, with Pirtek driver Andrew Jordan producing a late flying lap to take pole, a whisker ahead of Honda Yuasa's Gordon 'Flash' Shedden and Matt Neal.

Race 1 brought mixed results for the team. Early in lap 1 Gordon Shedden was forced off the track in a racing incident. He did rejoin the race but could only finish 25th. Meanwhile, up front, Matt Neal scored a landmark 50th BTCC victory, taking the lead on the last lap when Andrew Jordan suffered a puncture.

Race 2, Matt made it two wins out of two in a fabulous drive from the front, while Flash took the third podium spot in some very close racing. It was a memorable Honda 1-2-3 in Race 3, with Flash winning an incredibly tense race from 7th on the grid, after race leader Jason Plato dramatically suffered a puncture late on. Matt finished second, a mere 0.049s ahead of Andrew Jordan as they crossed the line.

After a memorable day for Honda Yuasa Racing, Matt now leads the championship, with Flash up to fourth.
