Cal Crutchlow returns to the Honda family in 2008 riding for the Honda Racing HM Plant team alongside Leon Haslam. For many years a Honda rider, Cal scooped the 2006 British Supersport 600 title on a CBR600RR.

  1. I’m massively excited about moving back to Honda – it’s a dream job and I’m with the championship winning team. Honda and I have unfinished business: we’ve won the Supersport title together and now for the BSB title!
  2. There’s no reason why I can’t win it this year. There are perhaps five riders in 2008 that can win it, and staying consistent will be the key. I’m going to give it a good go.
  3. I don’t ride a bike on the road but I got to ride the new Fireblade road bike at the launch in Qatar! I thought it felt better than my previous race bike, it was that good!
  4. I would love to learn to ride on the road. I’m planning on doing that this year with Honda as I know that from October this year the test will be changing and probably more expensive.
  5. I used to play football at quite a high level and had a trial with Coventry City, my local team. I still love watching and going to games and I have plenty of mates who play at the top level. It’s another sport that I love.
  6. I got into racing as my dad Derek used to race. I’d follow him all over Europe watching him do it and from there I’ve got a real love and passion for racing bikes.
  7. I want to win the first race of the year at Brands Hatch! There’s no best place to win, you want to win them all and winning at the first race of the year would be the perfect start to the year.
  8. The best bit about bike racing is the love and passion for the sport that everyone involved has, from the racers to the marshals and everyone who is important in it – including the fans! It’s not just me that feels this way about racing. We all do.
  9. I really don’t think there’s any ‘bad thing’ about racing. There’re lots of stresses on riders and teams at certain times of the year, but that’s part and parcel of racing and you deal with it.
  10. Ultimately I would love to go to GPs...that’s where it’s all happening. You can win WSB and then go to MotoGP, so that’s the ultimate aim. I’d like to go up the ladder and win a world superbike championship and then go to MotoGP.
