THE WORLD’S FIRST LIGHT WEIGHT, HEAVYWEIGHT.

Launched in 1992, this Super Sport motorcycle was designed for one thing: Total Control. Soon to be celebrating its 25th anniversary, the Fireblade is still leading the way for other sports bikes.

To celebrate this iconic motorcycle, we’ve created a limited edition Fireblade poster. Download your copy before it’s too late. Or read on to learn more about this legendary machine.

ENGINEERED FOR TOTAL CONTROL

“I wanted a bike to be fun to ride, and more importantly, to go around the corners“ - Tadao Baba

In 1992 sportsbikes were fast. But they didn’t perform well around corners. Tadao Baba designed the Fireblade to do both. Instead of focusing on the engine, he placed his focus on giving the rider Total Control by reducing weight and improving the handling of the bike in order to destroy the opposition. And it worked.

FIREBLADE BY NAME, LIGHTNING BY NATURE.

And a Honda through and through.

Named after a mistranslation of the word lightning into Japanese, the Fireblade injects a shot of pure adrenaline straight to the heart, with performance that takes Total Control to a new place. A place where riders don’t just take corners, they taunt gravity.

LIFE ON A BLADE’S EDGE

A match made in racing heaven.

In 2002 we introduced a new Fireblade, with a lighter body and an increase in power to 155bhp. A far superior road machine, this model would become the last Fireblade Tadao Baba would oversee before his retirement. Baba likes the model so much that he even has one in his garage.

THE FLAME NEVER DIES

The concept hasn’t changed.

That’s why we continually dominate road races like the Isle of Man TT where the Fireblade took the top three places in the 2013 Superbike race. Today, the Fireblade delivers advanced power, balance and handling, with the development team concentrating their efforts on the chassis to enhance riding enjoyment even further. But don’t let our team riders have all the fun - get out there and try one for yourself.

BUILDING LEGEND UPON LEGEND

“Racing improves the breed” Soichiro Honda

And we don’t just mean the machines, we mean the people too: the engineers, the racers. It is through their relentless pursuit for better that we stay true to Sochiro Honda’s dream and continue to build legend upon legend.
