Maintenance

The purpose of maintenance is to keep your Honda in the best possible operating condition.

But remember that your Honda Authorised Dealer knows your Honda best and is fully equipped to maintain and repair it. To ensure the best quality and reliability, use only new Honda genuine parts or other equivalent for repair and replacement.

The times listed below are based on average operating conditions. Some items will need more frequent service if used in dusty conditions. Consult your Honda Authorised Dealer for recommendations applicable to your individual needs and use.

Important safety precautions:

  • Make sure the engine is off before your begin any maintenance or repairs
  • To avoid the equipment starting accidentally pull off the spark plug cap before carrying out any maintenance
  • Be sure there is adequate ventilation whenever you operate the engine
  • Let the engine exhaust system cool before touching
  • Do not run the engine unless instructed to do so as detailed in the Owners Manual
  • Make sure you have the tools and skills required before you begin
  • Keep cigarettes, sparks and flames away from fuel related parts.

    First month or 10 hours

    • Change the engine oil

    Every 3 months or 25 hours

    • Clean the air cleaner element

    Every 6 months or 50 hours

    • Change the engine oil
    • Check the engine cooling fins

    Every 1 year or 100 hours

    • Check the spark plug
    • Clean the fuel tank
    • Check the fuel filter

    Every 2 years or 300 hours

    • Replace the spark plug
  • BRUSHCUTTERS

    Before each use

    • Check the condition of the cutting attachment and guard
    • Clean around the transmission head
    • Clean around the transmission head
    • Check the operation of the stop button
    • Check the idle/clutch
    • Check the air filter element
    • Check the engine oil level
    • Check the nuts and bolts (Retighten if necessary)

    Every 3 months or 25 hours

    • Grease the transmission head
    • Clean the air filter
    • Clean the air filter housing
    • Clean the area around the carburettor
    • Check the cables and connections

    Every 6 months or 50 hours

    • Clean the engine cooling fins
    • Clean the area around the spark plug
    • Change the engine oil

    Every 1 year or 100 hours

    • Check and clean the spark plug
    • Clean the fuel tank
  • HEDGETRIMMERS

    Before each use

    • Check the engine oil level

    • Check the cutter guard
    • Check the nuts, bolts, and fasteners (Retighten if necessary)

    • Stop the engine and disconnect the spark plug cap before any operation under the cutter housing or the discharge tunnel.

    • When tightening or loosening the blade screws, use a wooden block to prevent the blade from rotating.
    • Always make sure the correct balance of the blade when sharpening.

    • Check the rear shield if the lawnmower has one
    • Check the grass bag system for wear or deterioration.

    • Replace the spark plug

    • Stop the engine and disconnect the spark plug cap before any operation under the cutter housing or the discharge tunnel.
    • Wear thick gloves when removing or installing the blade, or when cleaning the cutter housing.
    • When tightening or loosening the blade screws, use a wooden block to prevent the blade from rotating.
    • Always make sure the correct balance of the blade when sharpening.
