Big Red shortlisted as Farming's Greatest Machine by Farmers Weekly

Big Red
Honda's iconic 'Big Red' ATV has been shortlisted as one of Farming's Greatest Machines in a poll carried out by Farmers Weekly to commemorate the magazine's 75th Anniversary.
According to seasoned ATV writer Peter Hill, the Big Red deserves the title for "transforming work and transport practices on farms across the country" through its "bullet-proof reliability, strong performance, reasonable economy, easy manoeuvrability and tenacious grip."
The Big Red (TRX300) faces stiff competition from the likes of the Ferguson TE20, MF35 and Ford 5000 tractors; the Land Rover Defender 90 and the Howard Rotaspreader. But the machine deserves its place in the hall of fame according to Peter due to its ability to "provide rapid mobility at relatively low cost and with little impact on wet ground on dairy, pig and beef units, while helping arable growers put slug pellets and other pesticides on to crops when the land would not support bigger machinery...and on top of that, quads like Honda's TRX300 have put some fun and exhilaration into the daily farming routine."
Praise indeed...and we look forward to the results of the reader vote in early October.
