The Honda BF115D outboard engine

Honda Marine has completed the overhaul of its mid-range four-stroke outboard engine line-up with the launch of the new BF115D. Every engine in the range from 40hp to 135hp now offers best in class performance and fuel economy, through a package of measures including the introduction of Honda's acclaimed BLAST™ and ECOmo™ technologies.

Available across Europe from June 2010, the BF115D provides the largest engine displacement and highest power torque in the 115hp category. With its compact "Wing Form" shape, it is the ideal choice for a wide variety of RIB, fishing, sports and commercial craft; delivering enhanced economy, reduced operating noise and smoother operation without sacrificing performance.

Best in class fuel economy at cruising speeds is ensured through the addition of Honda's proprietary lean burn fuel control system, ECOmo™; while superior performance is maintained thanks in no small part to the BLAST™ system, which greatly improves hole-shot performance during periods of rapid acceleration.

Martin Moll, Head of Marketing for Honda (UK) Power Equipment

"The successful introduction of technologies including BLAST™ and ECOmo™ on the new BF40, BF50 and BF60 has highlighted a demand for such developments to strike the balance between optimum performance and optimum fuel efficiency. Back in September last year we announced we would be extending these innovations to our very top-end models, and now with the BF115D we have a completely overhauled mid-range. As an environment and technology leader we are committed to constantly innovating in this way to ensure our customers get superior-performing product with the lowest environmental impact possible."

The all new BF115D also features a completely revised ECM which provides engine management output data compliant with NMEA 2000; enabling it to be connected to existing or new CAN networks onboard a wide variety of craft. As a result the BF115D meets customer expectations by its flexibility in connectivity to a wide range of electronic equipment including chart plotters, fish finders and navigation equipment.

Additionally, to further enhance the customer experience, the new BF115D has been equipped with twin counter rotating balancer shafts. Unique to Honda in the 115hp category, this technology ensures extremely smooth engine operation particularly in the most important mid to high rpm operating range.

Finally, a trolling speed control switch has been provided as an optional feature for the new BF115D; allowing users to make fine speed adjustments (50rpm increments between 650rpm and 900rpm) with a single switch operation. The system is equipped with a unique "Answer-back" function using a buzzer which informs the operator to changes made to trolling mode and speed adjustments.
