Having owned the previous model for 4 years it took me time to take to the new model. Having owned the new civic for 6 weeks now wish I had bought one earlier. Much better car all round have done 800 miles now and averaging 60 miles to the gallon on mixed motoring for a 2.2 engine you could not ask for any more.

Test droveca 1.6 Diesel Civic. Loved the driving position, comfort and the smooth engine. The dashboard layout is good too.Can I live with that restricted view out of the back window? I'm not sure- it started to annoy me even on a short test drive. Expensive car compared to my current favourite, the Ford Focus.
The car was extremely comfortable, supportive seats and smooth ride. The car was responsive and very nippy about town! Great for travelling as plenty space in the boot. Useful for transporting awkward loads too. Really like the green aspects of the car. Highly recommended, a really practical, comfortable, stylish car that handles brilliantly.
I was initially disappointed by the rear spoiler(I'm a driving instructor and need for my pupils to see out the back) , however reassured once driven no where near as obstructive as I originally thought especially with the feature of rear camera. (perfect for parking). Very lively engine great for the nervous pupil as it seems to instil confidence . (Power when you need it, control when you want it )
The car was nice and smooth and had loads of power even for a small engine.
I own a 2008 Civic diesel and hence I was at ease from the begining. It is nice to see a back wiper and the enhanced dash board but I do not like the position of the hand brake. The car handles very well, less noisy, smooth. It is a pleasure to drive it. I also liked the gear changing advice.
Since my test drive I have bought the Civic and I am absolutely delioghted with every aspect of the car. It hugs the road, manages corners on country roads fantastically and I enjoy watching the fuel efficincy and the mpg at 70!Even more spectacular, my partner can easily fit his large kit of drums in the car.
fantastic drive...superb handling.
very happy with the new honda great all rounder the 1.6 engine has more than enough power the cut out switch takes a little while to get used to but once adjusted it is a great fuel saver, it has excellent response too just hit the gas and it soon moves, i absolute love this car handling.
Lovely car to drive. good bit of torque...it even wanted to go at 30mph in 5th gear. Fuel economy figures very good too and at around £1.40 per litre fuel economy is more important than ever. Very smart interior and I love the magic seats. Unfortunately I'm not in a position to purchase the car at the moment but come the end of the year Honda will be my first port of call.
Looks great and feels really nice very responsive, comfort level really good, and love the dash board. the only slight negative is the split windscreen at the back restricted view. but another great Hond Car
Before starting the test drive I was immediately impressed by the versatility of the 'magic seats' which lift up or fold over, creating very flexible space for storage. You can even walk through the space provided! It felt very smooth and quiet to drive, and offered great visibility. I appreciated some features which were completely new to me: Idle Stop which works by turning off the engine at traffic lights for example, and then re-starts when you depress the clutch; and the rear view camera to aid reversing and parking. It's extremely fuel efficient, and an added bonus is that, due to its low carbon dioxide emissions, it's exempt from road tax and London Congestion Charge.
This car was nice and smooth to drive.I fetl very good after the test drive. I believe this is a very good model from Honda and no car disc is a very good bonus with great mileage.
everything that has been said about the car is what it says on the tin
Stunning from exterior, especially in white! Like the new style interior front panels and the seats are much more comfortable, much cosier!Rear windscreen wiper good improvement, together with a slightly narrower rear window spoiler. As I am retired the fuel economy is very important to me, will expect cheaper travelling! I transport 2 cat carriers, therefore, the formation of the rear seating makes this easier for me.Overall a very comfortable and more responsive ride.
I was given the car to try while my own civic was in for MOT! Very impressed Very quiet and quite surprised by performance, good overtaking ability! Very comfortable and loaded with gizmos! My wife would like the reversing camera as she has a parking space at work which can be difficult to access! Excellent fuel economy! p.s. always receive outstanding service from Western Honda who cannot do enough for you! Particular praise for Jonathan Wilson who always goes out of his way to help!!
I thought I would give this a go as I am in the process of a Civic purchase.I found the car to be great in many areas. I have since opted for the 1.4 Civic due to finances but maybe look at one next time.
very good car and like the new internal layout of the dash board, the rear camera and return of rear windscreen wiper
I love my 2.2 S-Type diesel, and was prepared to be underwhelmed by the new 1.6. However I was bowled over by it. There is plenty of power, acceleration is smooth, the gearbox is as tight and easy to use as ever and the brakes seem to have been strengthened. The road-holding is superb and the ride has been improved. A lot of thought has gone into the new instrument layout, and I think it's an improvement, just as much information but less obtrusive. The unnecessary separate Start button has been dropped. The car is as comfortable as ever, but your comfort is improved by the better ride. and at last the rear window has been sorted out. Visibility is now good and there is now a rear window wiper.Fuel consumption is amazing and I love the rear-view camera for reversing, a very useful safety measure. All in all, a lot of thought has gone into the upgrades on this car, and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.
Test drove the 1.6 diesel as looking for a second car. Drive was very smooth and impressed with the interior. It does lack the exterior presence of the previous model, but still distinctive. Over a short distance at low speeds still achieved 40mpg+. Seriously considering this as a second car given the practicality of the back seats and boot.
After driving this car I am hooked on Honda yet again. First impression was that there has been a major improvement in quality, it feels a nice car and I would enjoy spending time in the driving seat. Shame the handbrake has been moved to the passengers side though. This is a very quiet and smooth diesel engine. I did not hear 'clatter' at any time, well done Honda. This car is easy and satisfying to drive with plenty of power. I drove enthusiastically and returned 55 mpg so normal driving will give around 65 mpg I am sure.Although smaller than my Accord the available cargo space is greater and will suit my need to move bags of garden compost and flower pots for the show bench. The flexibility offered by rear seats is just magic. Although the rear passengers should ok for space, the lack of foot room under the front seats may cause some moans.I returned from the test drive with a big smile on my face. I want one.
If you want a practical and comfortable car but with a sporty response and good fuel economy then look no further than the new Honda Civic 1.6 I-Dtec diesel. It also has the advantage of being exempt from the London Congestion Charge making it ideal for the commute into London. It has all the features of the other cars in the Civic range but with the new diesel engine you get great fuel economy but still feel like you are driving a sporty and powerful car.It is a shame that there is no automatic option but still a fun car to drive.
Very impressed by the 1.6 diesel, having driven a 2.2 for quite a few years now. The Civic was very smooth on the road - it handled well. Dashboard display is excellent - love the layout. Driver seat design is comfortable but a little restrictive when it comes to changing gears, but I'm sure it's only a matter of adjusting to this. A very impressive car.
The car is very deceptive, looks small outside but like the tardis the inside is much larger. It also has surprising performance for a relatively small Diesel engine. Overall the car exceeded my expectations, the only drawback is the view out of the rear window.
This car felt reliable, safe and was a pleasure to drive. I felt excited at the look of the new civic, the acceleration was quick, the amount of space was a nice surprise. The saving on fuel was also something that made the decision much easier.
This car was an absolute pleasure to drive, handles smoothly and felt very spacious. Very quick with acceleration. The fact that their is no car tax is a fantastic bonus.
Currently drive a VW Golf. The road handling and performance of this car I could not beleive it was a 1.6 diesel. Once my renewal is up I am certainly going to look at the new Civic.
What a fantastic Diesel engine from Honda!Great drive, great handling. My 2 children came with me and they liked the rear of the car!!
Firstly I have to say I am not a fan of the styling but thats a personal view. The car is very smooth to drive, responsive and with a surprising turn of speed when pushed. The power range is excellent both at the lower and higher speeds. The comfort when driving is particularly good the seat seems to mold itself around you and the driving position I find is excellent. The exemption from RFL and LCC is an important plus (at the moment my RFL is £450) The economy is excellent but to me there are too many indications and reminders of the economy on the dash board. All round this is an excellent car it will be a success for Honda and I will certainly consider it when I next change my car.
First, thanks to Lancaster Honda and Jeff Kane for the opportunity to drive the new 1.6 Civic. The Civic is an attractive car to look at, has infinite ways to configure the 'magic seats' and a excellent driving position. The new 1.6 Diesel engine gives more than enough power (120Bhp) to give a thoroughly enjoyable drive when pushed but flexible enough to potter along in urban areas. Add in 60+ mpg which was achieved without trying to drive economically and you have a fine motor car which should be on any new car buyers list. The only drawbacks are, no Auto gearbox option, and the excellent safety options, adaptive cruise control and collision mitigation system are only available on the top of the range EXGT. Even so this is one very nice car worth serious consideration.
