Road races
- Ed will train twice a day for approximately three to four hours per session
- Ed will try and accumulate as many miles as possible each week
- Ed can race up to 3 competitions in one week
- Some stage races are up to 7 days in a row
- Ed will have one day off a week
- Leading up to a race training will tail off in order to maintain energy for the race itself
Track races
- Two weeks prior to a track race Ed will be asked to do as little as possible by his trainer, no cycling and even limited walking all in an attempt to conserve energy levels for the race.
- Ed started out on mountain bikes
- Ed cycles on average 40 hours per week
- On a five hour bike ride Ed can burn approx 4000 calories
- Ed often has pasta for breakfast and his favourite food is pasta carbonara
- Ed's hero is Dougie Lampkin
- Ed's favourite place to race is the Manchester Velodrome
- Two of Ed's favourite racing memories are winning the Olympic Gold in Beijing and winning the Tour of Berlin race when he was 20 years old
- Ed's favourite TV programme is Top Gear
- On his day off Ed loves to ride his motorbike through Cumbria and the Peak District
