For an unprecedented sixth year in a row, Honda has topped this survey thanks to an impressively-low 9 per cent failure rate in the first 12 months. Honda also dominated the top of the SUV table, with the HR-V and CR-V at number one and two.

The CRZ’s blend of sporty looks, agile handling and good fuel efficiency allowed it to deal with the bustling back streets of the Third Ring district in China to win over the judges at Top Gear. “Of all the cars we brought to China, CR-Z is far and away the one I feel most at home with – and most excited about,” said the magazine.

The Jazz came third in the supermini class for new car reliability (0 to 3 years) with a score of 96.2%.

For the fifth year in a row, the Jazz has come first in its class in this Study – and has this year also come third in overall model ranking. For Honda it was another great year, reclaiming second place overall in the survey and high scores across all four categories.
