Selkirk based Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue Team with Honda's EC5000 generator

There are few more inhospitable environments in the UK than Scottish mountain terrain in deepest winter; the extreme cold and dark conditions push both men and machines to the outer limits of human and mechanical survival. It's in this brutal setting that the Selkirk based Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue Team will depend on Honda's EC5000 generator to supply vital portable power when it matters most.

The volunteer rescue service is always on call to provide life saving emergency assistance to walkers and climbers and it relies totally on donations. Now, with winter approaching, the team has just been presented with a new Honda EC5000 generator.

Widely used throughout the construction industry due to its rugged build quality and immense reliability, the EC5000's environmentally conscious GX390 4-stroke engine and supremely durable open frame will provide the rescue team with up to 5000W of portable power. The generator will be used as the main power source for running systems from the team's mobile Search Control vehicle when stationary, offering the team dual voltage output, (115 / 230 volts), ideal for running 110 volt emergency lighting systems during extended searches as well as assisting with the inflation of large portable tents. Featuring a 6.5-litre fuel tank, running on unleaded petrol, the EC5000 will provide 4500 watts of power for up to 1.8 hours before requiring a re-fill.

The generator was presented to Chris Chapman, Deputy Team Leader of the Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue Team by Thomas Cowan of Robson & Cowan, Honda agents for North England and South Scotland.

Chris Chapman, Deputy Team Leader, Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue Team

"Our team couldn't be happier with the loan of this generator. As night searches are a frequent part of our job, it is going to be extremely useful having the security of a Honda generator to help maintain our service in the dark and cold conditions throughout the long winter nights."

The loan forms part of Honda's commitment to supporting local causes across the UK.
